The Vechtdal and Reestdal is beautiful

Discover the surroundings of the Bembom Hoeve

The Bembom Hoeve is located in the middle of a special part of the Netherlands: the Vecht valley. This green, hospitable region stretches along the meandering river Vecht, with the villages of Hardenberg, Lutten and Slagharen as its charming base. In this varied landscape, you will find peace, space and plenty of opportunities for adventure - perfect for families, groups of friends or those who just want to get away from it all.

Nature at its best

Be surprised by vast forests, rolling meadows, moors and flowery field edges. Whether you set out on foot, by bike, on a mountain bike or by canoe - nature is always close by here.

Near the Bembom Hoeve is the Reest valley, a picturesque stream valley with an almost un-Dutch charm. Also special is the nature reserve near Collendoorn. There, you walk over hills that were once a rubbish tip - today, none of this can be seen. Instead, a beautiful green area unfolds, where nature has restored itself to its full glory. A place that silences and inspires.

Culture & regional experience

The Vecht valley breathes history. Visit historic mills, castles or museums in Hardenberg and the surrounding area. Discover old farmyards or cycle past characteristic farms where regional products are sold: artisan cheese, fresh eggs, jam, honey and many more goodies. Local markets and cosy farm shops invite you to sample the countryside.

Adventure for young and old

Those who love action will also find plenty to enjoy. Slagharen amusement park is a few minutes' drive from the Bembom Hoeve and is a feast for young and old alike, with roller coasters, wild water rides and shows. There are also numerous cycling and hiking routes, mountain bike trails and opportunities for fishing or canoeing on the Vecht. For bikers: the rural roads in this region are loved for their tranquillity and beauty.

Cycling and hiking routes

Walking on history - the special landscape of Collendoorn

A nature reserve on a former rubbish dump - that thought alone makes a walk in Collendoorn a unique experience. Because let's face it: hills that used to contain household goods, toys and plastic underneath do not immediately form the backdrop you expect in a beautiful piece of nature.

Yet that is exactly what makes it so special. You see nothing of it today. Instead, you walk through a surprisingly undulating landscape, with young forests, flowery grass fields and beautiful vistas over the Vecht valley. It is a paragon of how nature can recover - and come back even more beautiful than you would have dared to hope.

For guests of the Bembom Hoeve, this nature reserve a stone's throw away is a wonderful place to go for a walk, a picnic or just stand still and enjoy the peace and quiet. And with a bit of luck, you'll spot deer, birds of prey or unusual butterflies along the way.
